Tech Support notice

In addition to in-store renovation, we've been working hard on the site. If you follow using Blog Lovin, or Feedly or any other feed reader, you will have to update to the new feed here.

If you are a Blogspot follower, I'm not sure if you can add a custom address. That option is usually for Blogspot hosted blogs only.

Right now, we are a stand-alone NEW site with a pretty new look! All kinds of new options are available to us now, so stop in to "ooo" and "ahhhh"!

Same domain name, just new feed address. If you have any questions about the technical aspects of the site, I would be happy to answer.

Playtime

Connie stopped in to the shop this week to show me the Twister Heart Quilt that she made using the 30's Playtime charm squares and fabrics from her stash.  She quilted it herself.  Isn't it darling.  I love it!! Thanks for bringing it in to show me.  BTW  The Twister quilts displayed at the shop were made by Connie Fullarton.

What would you make with these prints?

As promised the Nancy Halvorsen, Ho Ho Ho Let It Snow fabric came this week!  It is bright and pretty and charming.

No Math Quilt Charts is a neat little reference booklet with clear, concise answers to questions like:
  • How much fabric do I need to make 247 half square triangles?
  • How do I cut the setting triangles for an on point layout?
  • How big is a queen size quilt?

We're selling it at a great price!

Goodbye Old Friend

Last weekend I finally closed the Woodstock location of  The Christmas Crab Quiltery.  I feels like I am losing my best friend and it is a sad time for me.  Over the years I have spent most of my waking hours at the shop or at home thinking and planning and "doing business " in an effort to make a success of the business and ....myself.  I have loved every minute.  Give or take. LOL  I have met many wonderful people and I have made some true friends.  I love you all.

The reason that I had to close down is not because I like Fredericton better, as some of you seem to feel, but because I simply couldn't afford to keep it open.  I have tried to make a go of it and have gone farther in debt than I should have in an effort to keep things going.  Always hoping that things would pick up.  Finally, I had to face the fact that there was not a large enough market for the business.  ie Too much supply for too little demand.

For those who have supported me (and I know you are grieving with me) I thank you!  Truly, thank you.

I wanted to share these photos taken in Woodstock over the years in order to leave you with happy thoughts of the good times we have had together

Beating the Heat

This is the project that I have been working on this week.  Yes, it is a Christmas wall hanging.  I think it was an unconscious attempt to keep cool.

Don't worry, you won't have to "think" cool, we have a new air conditioner to keep us comfortable.

PS:  This wall hanging will be available as a kit complete with fabrics for top, back, binding and pattern.

The best thread in the world!

We have finally received the new display of Auriful thread in all the best colors!  It is 100% cotton, super fine and lint free and you can actually feel the difference when pressing the seams.  I Love it!!!!  Now you can sew with the best thread in the world, even if you don't need a big spool.

We also have this delightful collection of Bunny Hill Wool.  Perfect for stitchery and applique!  We are going to cut it down so that you can have some of each.  How great is that?

Over The Hill by Crab Apple Hill and ........Betty Doherty

 We love these patterns!

Sandy brought hers in to show us last spring and we all just fell in love with it.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of it.  Sandra Culberson was teaching a hand applique class and everyone was so excited and bubbly and I forgot.

The picture, not the quilt.  I forgot to take the picture, I couldn't forget the quilt.

Just about then I had the opportunity to purchase some wonderful fabrics that I thought would be perfect for this project.

We have a selection of prints and batiks and the pattern in stock!

Betty Doherty already has a great start on hers!  She is using a blue/grey/taupe variegated thread for the embroidery and our Snowman Gatherings and Batiks from Moda fabrics.

Isn't she doing a great job! (as always)
